Commercial Pilot Course - $9,640.00

This is a 65 flight-hour course with 80 hours of ground school. You will fly with a higher degree of proficiency and have a greater understanding of aviation theory. Our course is designed to provide you with all the skills and knowledge required to qualify for the Commercial Pilot License.

Our senior management has thousands of hours of practical experience in charter and commercial airline flying. We know what is required for you to meet commercial operator standards.

The Training Program
An applicant for the Commercial pilot license must be at least eighteen years of age at the time of licensing. In order to hold a Commercial pilot license you must be the holder of a Category 1 medical.  A Transport Canada approved doctor must carry out the medical examination.  We strongly suggest that it be completed as early as possible.

All dual times are the minimum times required for the license and more time may be required depending on the students available time and aptitude. The program is divided into two components; the flight component and the ground component.

The flight component which includes all air work, take-offs and landings, cross country trips, instrument flying and a preflight-test, consists of:

  • 35 hours dual instruction.  The hourly rate for dual is $164.00 ($111.00 for the aircraft rental, $9.00 insurance and fuel surcharges, and $44.00 instructor fee).  Dual time consists of 20 hours instrument flying, 8 hours of advanced dual; 5 hours of which must be dual cross country, 5 hours of night flying and your flight test.

  • 30 hours solo practice.  The hourly rate for aircraft rental is $120.00 (plane rental $111.00 plus Insurance and fuel surcharges of $9.00).  Solo flight time consists of 30 hours practice including a 300nm cross country with two intermediate stops other than the point of departure (one being controlled) and 5 hours of solo night flying.

The total dual flight time comes to $5,740.00; the total solo time comes to $3,600.00.  Total flight component comes to $9,340.00

A 40 hour ground school is also required; this can either be one on one or in a classroom with other students.  The cost for the ground school is $300.00.  Topics covered include:

Canadian Aviation Regulations, Aerodynamics & Theory of Flight, Meteorology, Airframes, Engines and Systems, Flight Instruments, Radio and Electronic Theory, Navigation, Flight Operations, Licensing Requirements and Human Factors (including pilot decision making)

Books and navigational equipment required for your ground school kit cost $235.00.

The minimum cost for the Commercial course is a very reasonable $9,645.00.

Additional requirements and costs are as follows:

  • Medical Examination - The cost for this examination is approximately $70.00.

  • There is a written examination fee of $105.00 and a flight test fee of $200.00. Both fees are paid to Transport Canada or a designated examiner. There is a Transport Canada licensing fee of $55.00

Once you earn your Commercial License there are many routes to follow for your career.  We offer our students the opportunity to earn their instructor rating and work with the company as space permits.  You may also choose to enhance your license with a Float Endorsement, ask us for details.
